“Addiction is an escape from our pain.”
Addictions such as alcohol, drugs, smoking, food,
shopping, pornography, gambling
have all been created by our mind as a substitute
for something that it feels is does not have.
If our childhood pattern is loss of self worth, self value
lack of nurture or no confidence (just to name a few)
our mind needs a substitute for nurture.
The mind will choose from a myriad of addiction substitutes to gain a sense of self. The horror begins when we define ourselves to the substitute rather than being able to find and love our true self.
If we face our pain… we no longer need the addiction.
